ORCA PT-2

Photonic Quantum System

ORCA PT-2

A Quantum Computer Like No Other

Rack-mounted, room temperature and built with state-of-the-art photonic components, the ORCA PT-2 provides access to quantum computing capabilities now. A welcome departure from the cumbersome, fragile and expensive systems, the PT-2 is built on the proven success of real-world deployments and represents a significant leap in capabilities and performance from its predecessor. Our most advanced photonic quantum system, the ORCA PT-2 functions, operates and performs like no other.

While many quantum companies are waiting for fault-tolerant systems, ORCA Computing is already delivering impressive results for high-profile customers. Thanks to the use of widely adopted communication protocols and standard programming interfaces, integration with high-performance computing systems has been made much easier. ORCA is also seizing opportunities in quantum optimisation, machine learning, and generative AI, which are set to be game changers.

Steve Conway, Senior Analyst at Intersect360 Research

Generative AI is poised to transform economies and societies, but it’s quickly reaching a point of unsustainability. ORCA Computing’s PT-2 brings a quantum-enhanced approach that directly addresses critical barriers like power consumption, model cost, and model quality. By offering a more diverse and richer distribution for model training, the PT-2 begins to overcome these challenges.

Bob Sorensen, Senior Vice President of Research and Chief Analyst for Quantum Computing at Hyperion Research

ORCA Computing to Deploy Quantum Photonics Testbed to UK National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC)

Following the successful delivery of the PT-1 system to the NQCC, ORCA will next deliver the NQCC Photonic Testbed system in Q1 2025. This Testbed will be the world’s first to integrate multiple photon sources within a single system – a technological first and a rich applications development environment.  In addition, the Testbed will be integrated with a GPU-based HPC cluster, delivering the hybrid quantum-classical capabilities essential for practical, real-world applications. The Testbed will share many of the advanced technologies with ORCA PT-2 system and provide a real-world setting for system advancements.

Quantum Experts Join Forces to Revolutionise European Quantum Computing

Supported by Eurostars, a European funding programme, ORCA Computing, Pixel Photonics, Sparrow Quantum and the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) are collaborating to deliver a full-stack photonic quantum computing system. Leveraging our deep expertise in quantum photonic system architecture, we integrate ORCA’s quantum processor with single-photon sources from Sparrow Quantum and NBI, and single-photon detectors from Pixel Photonics, into an industry-standard data centre system. This project contributes to the advancement of our PT-2 system, demonstrating state-of-the-art photon processing efficiencies and system reconfigurability—once again a testament to our full-stack system development capabilities.
